What should I look for in a mediator?
It’s important to look for three things in a mediator, experience, training, and personal qualities. Most importantly, a mediator should have extensive experience in disputes and dispute resolution.
I’ve been practicing law for 26 years. I’ve handled hundreds of lawsuits and have extensive experience in disputes and dispute resolution. I’m also a Florida Supreme Court certified circuit civil mediator and have obtained all of the training and ongoing educational requirements to keep that certification.
Finally, I think the personal qualities are extremely important. I think a mediator needs to be trustworthy. I think a mediator needs to be a creative problem solver. I think a mediator needs to be a good listener.
